Iberia, Spain’s Flagship Airline

Iberia LAneas Areas de Espania is the Spanish flag carrier airline, more commonly known as Iberia. Part of the Iberia Group, the airline operates from its base in Madrid, the Spanish capital, with another main base also located in Barcelona at its El Prat airport. With 38 domestic destinations and almost 90 international destinations in 45 countries, Iberia flies to Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas in addition to Europe. Being the only European airline to serve Montevideo, San Salvador and Guatemala City, it has various code-sharing agreements with other companies such as Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines and LAN Airlines. On intercontinental flights, the airline offers a range of options including business plus on top of the standard business and economy. In 1999 the airline joined the OneWorld alliance, and the iberia Plus Frequent Flyer Program allows you to earn Avios each time you travel with any of the OneWorld affliates and offers you the chance to redeem points for more than 750 destination across its alliance airlines. In 2010, British Airways and Iberia signed a deal to merge which made the combined operation the third largest in the world judged by revenue. The merged company is known as International Airlines Group although the two airlines continue to operate under their current respective brands.

The Ford Escort MK2 – A Legendary Rally Car

The Ford Escort MK2 is one of Ford’s great successes and a prominent part of rallying history. Coming into production in December 1974, this car was steadily built on production lines and sought after for its innovative features, which at the time were rare. Squarer in shape when compared with the Ford Escort MK1, the MK2 was not only built by the Ford of Britain, but also in collaboration with Ford of Germany. Similar mechanicals to the MK 1 were used for this car as well as similar panels; however it took over from the first version by competing in a variety of different niches for the car industry.

The interesting thing about this car was the fact it was available in both a 2-door, 4-door and estate version. This expanded its versatility to new levels. The reason for this is that their uses on the rally track were equally distinct. The MK2 has an impressive acceleration, reaching 100km/h in a mere 8.9 seconds.
